Also, I'm not sure I've seen Forge post-Krakoa? I suppose like Kurt, I hope putting something like that together would be fun for him, not a hassle: "...build you web-shooters? How the hell would I even begin to do tha--unless...yes. Yes. They'll be ready Tuesday." And, do you recognize Kurt's web-shooters? I had multiples of those!
I’m not sure Peter would ever really sell the license or patent of his web-shooters or web formula to anyone (unlike him doing that in Earth X, well at least he did with the web formula) because he’d be rightfully worried that it would inevitably end in the wrong hands, because it most certainly would. But, he could also provide some spares to his friends or the FF should the need ever arise.
ReplyDeleteLooking at that Spidey Nightcrawler head with the pointy ears makes me think there’s DEFINITELY a future reuse & repaint of the Green Goblin as Spider-Man since Norman’s temporarily taking over for Peter (Don’t get me started on how messed up that whole thing is, let alone that it made it past the brainstorming phase)
Basically you just repaint that head as a regular Spider-Man costume just with pointy ears. Basically sells itself.
No, he absolutely tried to sell the web formula very early on in his career. In one of the early issues, he needed money for something for Aunt May so one of the things he did was try to sell the formula to an adhesive company. They said no, because it only holds for an hour and this was before forced obsolescence. I think he also tried to join the FF, but they don’t pay a salary.

I think impact webbing comes from the same basic formula as the regular stuff, just with a different mechanism in the shooters. People probably homebrew web fluid anyway, and Forge’s would likely be close to the real thing. Speaking of Forge, I’m pretty sure you used him within the last 6 months. I don’t know what happened to Krakoa or how long ago, but he was in a few strips not that long ago.
Wow, I was totally wrong- like, over five years ago. I could’ve sworn he’d shown up to upgrade a weapon or something but February 2021 is the last time he was tagged in one of your strips. Where did the time go and why did I think it was more recently?
DeleteNo, you're dead on about Peter trying to sell the web-formula early on; but nowadays I doubt he would, just because of his guilt complex and what would happen if it was misused. (Which it almost certainly would be at some point, inevitably.) And poor Forge--who doesn't even get to stick his head in, since that figure is where?--is kinda like Beast, such a good utility character, that he doesn't get to do his own stuff anymore. Or, I never read his run on X-FACTOR; maybe that ended his leading-man shot.
