Ah, the Inhumanity!
From Comics Alliance, we see the first images for Marvel's upcoming Inhumanity event, which as some wags have already pointed out in the comments and elsewhere, doesn't seem to feature that many Inhumans, and kinda looks a lot like Earth X. "Following the events of Infinity, the Terrigen Mists are released throughout the world, causing the activation of previously dormant Inhuman cells in millions of people," blah blah blah. We're only mentioning it because there's a Nightcrawler on the teaser image!
Marvel would really be doing me a solid if this is our regular Marvel universe's Kurt Wagner back, and not a clone, a Skrull, a previously unmentioned sibling or son, or the Nightcrawler of earth-398 or something. Also, it would be just smashing if he came back and wasn't a priest, or Angela's herald or apostle or some such. Hell, if they really wanted to grant my wish, I would love it if Kurt quit the X-teams, as he threatened to before his death in Second Coming.
I do kind of like the Inhumans as well, although I still hate the way every writer that gets to use the Inhumans, has seemingly only read the classic Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four issues with them...and mmmmmmaybe the really, really good Jenkins/Lee miniseries. Their other appearances, hell, their most recent appearances? Will probably be completely ignored. Prove me wrong, Marvel; I'm probably already on the hook for this one...
This looks really, really good, but yeah, it makes me wonder as well if all that DnA War of the Kings/GoG stuff will be ignored or mentioned in passing. Shit, does that mean Crystal won't be married to Ronan the Accuser anymore? What about Silent War?
ReplyDeleteBut on the major plus side, it looks like the Peter Parker's back and our old buddy Kurt. I'm interested in seeing how they explain his return.
Oooh...Nightcrawler!
ReplyDeleteI hope War of Kings [despite its odd Medusa character change] and Silent War are mentioned too.
ReplyDeleteGoogum, if they did bring Kurt back, and he did get away from the X-teams, what would you want him to do? I wouldn't mind Kurt doing some traveling, maybe with a friend (not Wolverine, though).
ReplyDeleteHmm. I'd go with, Kurt tries to set up a relatively normal life: no X-Men, no supervillains, no troubles. This would be the first five pages of the first issue, where he's got a little apartment and is making himself at home in the neighborhood. Of course, that's not going to work: he's instantly recognizable as "that X-guy," his powers are way too useful, and he's too nice to tell his friends to get lost so he can finally watch Breaking Bad. Pete Wisdom shows up, to say hi...and get Kurt's help on a spy thing.
ReplyDeleteTwo issues later, Kurt's managed to piss off Wisdom (who admittedly, is a bit of a jerk...) and is stranded in England. He goes to his old friends Captain Britain and Meggan, which of course leads to a big thing in Otherworld, where mutants and Warpies have been trying to immigrate and aren't getting a warm welcome. Two issues later, Saturnyne sends Kurt back to earth, but to the Jean Grey School (yay, crossover!); where Logan and everyone expect Kurt to get back to work, and he doesn't want to.
This would just go on, as Kurt keeps trying to get home and failing miserably: Gambit offers him a ride home, and Kurt accepts even though he doesn't know him that well. After they're attacked and nearly killed multiple times, Gambit's feeling a little defensive that Kurt thinks he's kind of sketchy (and of course, Gambit's not the target...) Two issues later, at a gas station, Kurt's about to pay for gas and snacks, when he's teleported to Limbo by his old girlfriend Amanda (leaving Gambit holding the bag...)
The end of issue #12, Kurt finally gets home...and the locks have been changed since he hasn't paid the rent.
not sure what Nightcrawler was doing up there, as I don't remember him from the story....
ReplyDeletesome people didn't care for this comic; they felt it was too much dialog or whatever. I really liked it, so much so that I wrote about it here: http://cobyscomics.blogspot.com/2013/12/inhumanity.html
