I'm exhausted today, but luckily today's book isn't real taxing. From 1989, Death's Head #7, "Shot by Both Sides" Written by Simon Furman, pencils by Bryan Hitch, inks by Jeff Anderson.
DH is miffed when his newly rebuilt ship blows an engine, and he has to land it upside-down on a parking garage. He thinks it's shoddy craftsmanship, when it was an assassination attempt! Diminutive bomber Short Fuse had planted a bomb that he thought would do the trick, but the only victim is his own car, which is crushed in the landing. Meanwhile, crime boss Undertaker puts Big Shot on the Death's Head contract: the robot had beat them both before, hurting their reps. Elsewhere, another crimelord, the horse-headed Dead Cert, is fed up with Short Fuse's wordplay and failure, and demands he beat Big Shot to the punch. (I guess this is in Bojack Horseman continuity.)
Death's Head and his sidekick Spratt are still on the tail of the disguising criminal Photofit, trying to find him before he flees the country. Big Shot takes aim at the unsuspecting DH, only for his aim to be spoiled by another of Short Fuse's explosions, which blows Death's Head to safety; although he's starting to suspect something. In a TV studio, Spratt finds a hidden body, and tries to find Photofit wearing that corpse's face, only to accidentally wander onto the set of a game show and become a contestant--with Photofit his opponent! Spratt is winning, until Photofit threatens him with a gun in the back: he was trying to win a trip out of the country. Death's Head fights the inexplicably drooling Big Shot, with Short Fuse repeatedly trying and failing to blow them both up, until Photofit changes himself to look like Death's Head for an escape, and instead gets blown up with Short Fuse. Big Shot is blown out of the building, but swears vengeance; as DH tells Spratt to try and gather enough of Photofit's body for them to claim the reward, which may involve a mop.
Short fuse, but long drool trail. Eeeeeewwww.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe the just departed Tony Lister Jr could've played him, or maybe now Terry Crews. Same energy.
