"Debutante."

We break from our usual title formatting this episode: it's "Debutante" as we're introduced to society--the Serpent Society! Who we don't see all of this episode--and by "all of," I mean all that have been made so far, in the slowest rollout in the history of about anything. And yet, behind Cobra--King Cobra--we have the DC Universe Classic Kobra, to shore up the numbers. I supposedly have the DCUC Copperhead somewhere, I don't know why he's not in there as well! Also, I know there are some Masters of the Universe Snake Men that might fit the bill for that job; pity they don't seem to be available just yet.

I also continue to be surprised and appalled Diamondback hasn't gotten a figure yet, since she would probably work on one of the usual female bodies--I feel like she's slightly more petite than Ms. Marvel/Moonstone--and a new headsculpt and some paint. Ooh, masked and unmasked would be great. I seem to recall the Serpent Society was maybe slated for the next Captain America movie, so maybe there'll be some then.

  1. Yeah they supposed to be in there, with WWE Wrestler superstar Seth Rollins playing a member of the Serpent Society, although they haven't revealed which one, but he's rumored to be playing King Cobra.
Glad they're finally getting their cinematic due, but man, it would've been better to have seen Chris Evans fighting them instead. It is what it is.

I'm legit curious what beef the Society have with Kurt. I'm sure he wouldn't be all that fond of a group containing the letters "SS" coming after him.

Soooo Diamondback's on his "To-DO" List eh? I mean, I guess he does have a thing for bad girls...Didn't they meet up during that one UXM annual with Dazzler and IP body-swapping?

  2. If Diamondback's not there, Kurt, ask if Mamba is! The one with the Darkforce, reveals your deepest desires? Ask Deadpool and Cable about her, they know!

The Serpent Society's original boss (Sidewinder?) could teleport. That was why they never stayed locked up long. Maybe King Cobra realized having a teleporter was helpful when you run a group of 2nd-tier (being generous) villains who get whooped by Captain America a lot. Cobra strikes me as not being a smart salesman, so, "help us or we'll kill you" probably seems like a great pitch.

  3. There definitely needs to be a Diamondback figure. She seems to be the only one with any pizzazz.

No offense meant to the Serpent Society if anybody’s a fan- I’m sure they’ve got all sorts of snake-related villainy going on that’s at least a menace. Their costumes seem a bit basic though. They say ‘snake’ but there’s nothing that really sets them apart as individuals. At least the DC’s Kobra has the excuse that he’s the leader of a cult, so the uniform has to work for a variety of shapes and sizes.

As for what they want with Kurt, I still feel like brainwashing is the standard plan. His looks, combined with that teleportation ability, works for any number of schemes. Plus, all that Catholic guilt makes him an easy target.
