Mystery in Space is one of DC's titles like Strange Adventures or Adventure Comics; not one of the marquis titles like Action or Detective, but one that DC puts out every so often. It's probably best remembered for its run of Adam Strange stories, but in 1980 DC brought it back as an anthology book, like Ghosts and the Unexpected.
I don't know if they've been reprinted, so as I randomly find one I usually pick it up. Like today's issue!
From 1980, Mystery in Space #112, featuring "Howl!" Written by J.M. DeMatteis, art by Alan Weiss, inks by Terry Austin; and "Insurrection" Written by Mike W. Barr, art by Tom Sutton.
"Howl!" features a space vampire, who is defeated by a surprising choice of material for spaceship construction; and "Insurrection" has an intrepid starship crew make a bad assumption when getting involved in a conflict between two alien races. They're only seven page stories, and not outstanding or anything; but I still keep an eye out for the rest of this series. And I'm still keeping an eye out for a cheap copy of Vertigo's 80-pager...
