"Whizzer."

I forget how exactly Peter Parker climbs walls now, if it's weird little hairs or static electricity or.something else. But Spider-Man 2099 had little claws from the get-go: they are sharp as hell and pretty effective weapons, even if Miguel is understandably squeamish about slicing anyone up like that. That said, I can't remember offhand what, if anything, the arm spikes do or are for.

We keep seeing the Elders refer to each other by name rather than title, which is a weird callback to old Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe issues. I don't think Ego had another name, but he wouldn't have been part of another race at some point like the other guys. I thought the Champion's real name was 'Tycho' and not Tryco Slatterus, though. The Collector, Taneleer Tivan, does have a daughter, Carina: I was thinking of her since she's an NPC in Contest of Champions, but she was Korvac's girlfriend back in the day!

Honestly, I’d have figured Whizzer had that one. Huh.

Ego casually eating kids is forever canon. Just saying.

I think the spikes on Miguel's arms were just part of the costume, which was something he wore for a Day of the Dead celebration once, and then didn't get rid of it because it was made of unstable molecules and therefore really expensive? So, yeah, I don't think they were for anything other than making him look cool? (Not sure how well that worked. . .)

I know Wolverine fought Speed Demon in some kind of fighting tournament once, and this was basically his strategy, although he threw a lot more punches. Just tank the hits and wait for your shot. Not like Whizzer is Flash-fast, where he can circle the planet in a second and hit you like a railgun. Miguel probably just feels like someone hit his forearms and shoulders with a stick a bunch of times.

Didn't Carina decide death was preferable to being with Korvac, or am I misrembering? Korvac's always been one of those theoretically big-time villains I just never cared about.

Jeez, Whizzer and Speed Demon are both taken and by Marvel characters to boot- get some originality there dude.

Hmm, two wins in a row- either this is going to be over quick or Indian Spider-Man is getting taken out hard next round. Funny how we’re expecting him to tank but it’s going to happen I’m sure. Also, I might be misremembering but I think Miguel’s arm spikes come from the same place as the claws- it’s just more spider-y. He had one of those ‘vat of chemicals’ origins, and those mutate you more than a bite.

You are correct sir. No wonder he gave up mid-fight after winning.

Honestly, it could go either way, 50/50. He definitely comes across as someone overly confident enough to get his ass handed to him, while on the other hand he could just be good enough to cash checks that his mouth writes. Definitely curious how it goes down, but yeah, I’m thinking he takes a hard L in the next round.
