From 1998, Avengers/Squadron Supreme, "To Challenge a Champion!" Written by Kurt Busiek and Len Kaminski, pencils by Carlos Pacheco, inks by Matt Banning, Vince Russell, Bob Wiacek, Al Vey, and Paul Neary. The Avengers, with possible reserve members the Swordsman and Magdalene, answer a distress call from the Squadron Supreme; which leads to a 15-on-1 match against Imus Champion. The Avengers and the Squadron have a remarkably poor showing; but everyone can have an off day...
Actually, Champion has Batman-level cash and prep time to throw at the two teams. And he's like nine feet tall, for some reason; although that is less unbelievable than his motivation, which seems to merely be "because they're there," for the challenge. Champion does pull out some cool bits of Marvel Universe gear, though; like the Wand of Watoomb, the Wizard's Wonder Gloves and anti-grav discs, and Zodiac Star-Blaster.
All the assembled heroes are jobbed out here, and Hyperion gets crushed by Thor's hammer. The whole issue is a homage to old-school Justice League of America stories, where the assembled heroes would split into smaller groups for their own chapters. Great art, fun story, well worth finding.

Got this, and yeah they are pretty damn jobbed out. And then they have to let Imus Champion go because he technically didn't commit any crimes or some bullshit like that. Although didn't what he do constitute assault and battery? Methinks there was a case there anyways, and the Avengers fell for his line about having a bunch of lawyers tie the matter up in court. Fuck it, arrest his green giant-looking ass anyways;)
Nighthawk, and a decent one at that and some other Defenders like Hellcat, Damien Hellstorm, and some others would be cool as hell. Brother Voodoo, Jack of Hearts, Quasar, and of course Dazzler too. Out of all these, it's still a mystery to me that they never got around to making Dazzler, especially in disco outfit. Remember when Deadpool wore it that one time?
Superman can`t actually lift Mjolnir. It was thrown to him by Thor and in that moment of need (universes in the balance) he was able to use it`s power.
Afterwards we see him trying to lift it off ground and he can`t. Neither could the Hulk once when tangling with Red Norvell, if I recall.
This guy clearly doesn't read comics superman cannot lift up thors hammer. He literally grabbed it as Thor allowed it because Thor was too busy beating amazo an an despero by himself
