We've seen a few panels here and there of actual Darkhawk comics, and I have an actual plotline for him that's been percolating in my skull for some time and I hope to get to someday. He mentions the "Fraternity of Raptors," which I don't have a huge amount of interest in, but the family drama (as seen in Darkhawk #30) has some appeal. One of Chris's little brothers seems super big-hearted, while his other one, in another issue, had a serial killer mentor/replacement father figure! He also seemed like a jerk willing to throw Chris under the bus for all the family's assorted problems. And Chris's mom was a smokeshow! She doesn't look old enough to have a college-age son.
The other reason Darkhawk is getting written out for a bit, is that I don't think I moved his figure for several strips! I'm glad he got made at all, sure, but he wasn't a figure they went all-out on. No swappable hands or wings.
In more cheerful news, the Crystal Method's "Tweekend" still holds up!
I know I would get in trouble, every time I saw a Skrull change shape, I would say "ah, that's a good first try! Lemme know when you're done." I don't know yet if we're going to see more of them, though. I mean, I have more, so odds are, but... Read more!
I barely had enough New Warriors material for a single strip, sorry. Conversely, I feel like I could write Jimmy Woo all day! He's a weirdly upbeat by-the-book type with a can-do attitude that borders on psychosis. As we'll see next time, Everett is less so.

Despite repeated losses to Daredevil, in-universe I think the Hand is supposed to be scary-formidable. Non-Hand ninjas, and ninjas in video games and movies, though; you can plow through them no problem. The Ghost Dance referenced is based on Warren Ellis's description of it in X-Calibre #1, and probably isn't 100% historically accurate. In that issue, set in the Age of Apocalypse, Angel describes it to Kurt Wagner Darkholme, who considers it the dumbest thing he's ever heard, since that universe's version of Kurt had a bad experience with the church and was godless. The Hand may once have been able to bring the dream-versions of themselves to life, when they had the scary rep, but try that nowadays and you'd get fruit-slicing ninjas or disposable creampuffs...

But, a moment for my hodgepodge ninja horde: the red chaps are the Marvel Legend Hand Ninja, and of course I had to get a couple to make my Stilt-Man taller. Could probably do with another. The others are from the Fwoosh. I didn't buy them until they were pretty discounted, but they're nice figures: I don't love the pegs for the hands, since I think they're even smaller than those for the Mezco One:12, but not a dealbreaking complaint.
