We mentioned this show at the start of last year, and I don't know if we'll have a scanproof book every Monday this month, but this is a good start: from 2002, Kolchak: the Night Stalker, written by Jeff Rice, pencils by Gordon Purcell, inks by Terry Pallot.

This was an adaptation of the first Carl Kolchak story, which was a 1972 movie: it was based on a then-unpublished novel by Rice, and adapted by horror legend Richard Matheson. Abrasive reporter Kolchak doggedly pursues the story of the "Night Stalker" murders, which appear to be the work of a vampire, or someone that thinks they're a vampire. No, they're definitely a vampire. The cops are useless except for getting thrown around by the vampire, then planting evidence after Kolchak takes care of things himself. It's a frustrating end, as Kolchak gets his Vegas privileges removed; but only slightly more annoying that his usual cases. On the brighter side, I'm always glad to see Gordon Purcell art! He did a ton of DC's Star Trek.

It certainly feels like this election year is the year things you shout out become the titles to things…at least clickbait headlines anyways.

Having gone back & re-read your post, you definitely raised a good point, in that the two hour movie specials did better than the actual shows themselves. Very weird viewing habits from folks back then I guess.
