If you ever wondered why Forager had an action figure...

...well, you need to read Cosmic Odyssey.
Love this panel: I remember seeing it in an article in Comics Scene or something, back in 1988. It was some time before I got a copy of Cosmic Odyssey #1 for myself, and I think I've bought it a couple of times since. Written by Jim Starlin, pencils by Mike Mignola, inks by Carlos Garzon, and color art by Steve Oliff.

The Anti-Life Equation plays heavily in this one, but it turns out not to be what Darkseid always thought it would be (or how it's been portrayed since...) and is now making incursions into this universe. The New Gods Highfather and Darkseid are forced to work together, and bring in several of earth's heroes; since if Anti-Life can destroy two of four star systems--Rann, Xanshi, Thanagar, and Earth--the Milky Way Galaxy will collapse on itself.

There are a couple surprise guest-stars, but the heroes trying to save the various systems are Superman and Orion, Starfire and Lightray, Martian Manhunter and John Stewart, and Batman and Forager. All of which have received DCUC action figures, as have Darkseid, Metron, the Parademons, the guest-stars...everyone except Highfather. Get it if you can.

That is a cool panel, and so Batman too. But the Forager still looks fugly to me, and only really desirable to CO fans or diehard DC fans. Eh, at least is one giant step for diversity in the lone right?:)
